Company History

Bearcat Builders was founded in 1978 by Bob Vandervoort, Tim Rolff, and Jeff Pike. Today, Bob Vandervoort is the only remaining owner.

Bob Vandervoort found the Gunnison Valley in the late 60's, as a Western State College student. He is a second generation carpenter, an extreme skier, and an avid dirtbiker, among many other things. He has been married to his wife, Sherrie, Since 1987. He also has a son and a duaghter, Robbie and Katie. Robbie has been working for Bearcat Builders for the last 8 years.

Bearcat Buildings can be found in all parts of the Upper Gunnison Valley. We have built and renovated Custom Homes, Commercial Buildings, Retaining Walls, Bridges, Walkways and Driveways, and more.

Bearcat Builders has been involved in the Crested Butte community for over 30 years now. The Company's community involvement goes back to the old days of the "Annual Going Out of Business Party." Currently, Bearcat Builders builds annual 4th of July parade floats and sponsors the Bearcats softball, dodgeball, and flag football teams.
